Blakely, Georgia Includes Examples of Important Early Construction Projects!

Sitting in southwest Georgia Early County is both beautiful and historic, and it’s history relates to the most important aspects of construction, design and building.  Two of Early County, Georgia’s most important landmarks are construction marvels:

The Kilomoik Mounds are the oldest and largest Woodland Indian site in the southeastern United States.  The mounds contain important information regarding ancient, native construction techniques as the park includes Georgia’s oldest great temple mound built 350 to 750 A.D.  Most of the churches being built today do not include such longevity or imposing features.  Truly, these mounds are inspiring and very important to our collective history.

Although it is a bit newer,  The 1891 Coheelee Creek Covered Bridge is equally important.  As the southern most original covered bridge in the United States, it stands as a testament to sound building practices and solid construction techniques.  Imagine the engineering and construction technique employed to build such a beautiful, surviving gem.

Payment Problems on Construction Projects:

There are many important deadlines which construction professionals need to know; one of the most important is the deadline to file a lien.  In Georgia, materialmen’s liens must be filed within 90 days of the last day worked or within 60 days of the date of a statutory lien waiver–whichever is less!  All liens are filed at the county courthouse where the project is physically sited:
